Advanced Group Facilitation and Process Groups equips Canadian counsellors and healthcare professionals with advanced skills in leading process-oriented addiction/recovery groups: managing group dynamics and conflict, trauma- and culturally‑informed practice, co‑facilitation, stages of group development, harm‑reduction interventions, outcome monitoring, and integrating Canadian ethical/regulatory standards. Participants leave able to design session plans, de‑escalate challenging behaviours, apply evidence‑based techniques and document measurable outcomes.

What you'll learn

Design evidence-based, trauma- and culturally-informed process group session plans tailored to Canadian addiction/recovery settings, including harm-reduction elements and measurable objectives.
Apply advanced facilitation and co-facilitation skills to manage group dynamics, prevent and de-escalate challenging behaviours, and maintain safety in process-oriented groups.
Implement outcome monitoring and documentation practices that meet Canadian legal, ethical and privacy standards to measure, report and improve group effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Foundational/group facilitation experience or training (e.g., previous basic group facilitation course or equivalent practice experience).
  • Current role or placement in counselling, addiction services, healthcare or related field; basic familiarity with local privacy/regulatory frameworks is recommended.
