What you'll learn

Describe the spirit and core principles of Motivational Interviewing and its evidence base in Canadian clinical guidelines (CAMH, BCCSU, Health Canada).
Demonstrate MI microskills (OARS, reflections, summaries) and techniques for eliciting change talk and reducing sustain talk.
Apply MI in brief interventions and addiction treatment settings, integrating harm reduction, co-occurring mental health care, and culturally safe practice with Indigenous peoples.
Use basic fidelity and supervision tools (MITI overview) and create a personal plan for continued MI skill development and integration into Canadian services.
